ASSUMPTION SOFTBALL SHUTS OUT NEWMAN CATHOLIC IN REGULAR-SEASON FINALE

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Assumption softball team finished off its Marawood Conference South Division championship season with a 12-0 shutout of Wausau Newman Catholic on Monday at Robinson Park.


The Royals scored five times in the second inning and added seven more in the fourth to finish off the win via the 10-run rule.


Ava Schill allowed two hits and struck out 12 to pick up the win for Assumption, which the regular season 15-1 overall and 9-1 in the Marawood South.


Cristin Casey went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs out of the leadoff spot for the Royals.


Kendall Schmidt added two hits and scored twice, and Lydia Smits drove in three runs with a hit for Assumption.
