SPASH BOYS HOCKEY BLANKS D.C. EVEREST

SCHOFIELD – Kade Smigaj had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Stevens Point boys hockey team to a 7-0 shutout win over D.C. Everest on Tuesday at Greenheck Fieldhouse.
Cael Bolton, Jamie Reeve, Coy Brish and Jackson Schroeder also had goals for the Panthers, who improve to 14-3 overall and 7-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, climbing into a tie for first place with Wausau West in the conference.
Jonathon Nafe had nine saves in goalie to earn the shutout win for SPASH.
D.C. Everest falls to 8-12 and 2-7 in the conference.
D.C. Everest hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday and Stevens Point returns to action Saturday with a nonconference home game against Sun Prairie.
