STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point baseball team clinched its second-straight outright Wisconsin Valley Conference championship with a come-from-behind 5-4 win over Wausau East on Tuesday at Bukolt Park.


Wausau East led 3-2 after four innings before Stevens Point tied the game with a run in the fifth and pulled ahead with two runs in the sixth.


Ty Rechner picked up the win with 1 1/3 inning of relief. Noah Marschke had nine strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings for the Panhters (17-5, 10-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference).


Bryce Ehr and Deacan Koback each had two hits for Stevens Point.


The two teams will meet again Thursday at Wausau East High School.
