AUGUSTA STARTS STRONG, BEATS PORT EDWARDS GIRLS BASKETBALL

PORT EDWARDS – Augusta started the game on a 12-3 run and never trailed, defeating Port Edwards 52-36 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday at John Edwards High School.


Kennedy Korger scored 18 of her game-high 30 points in the first half as Augusta built a 31-10 lead.


Port Edwards started the second half on a 7-0 run, and cut the deficit to 11 at 37-26 with approximately 12 minutes left, but that was as close as the Blackhawks would get.


Nakita Borths led Port Edwards (1-8) with 14 points.


Port Edwards is off until Jan. 6 when it hosts Rosholt for a Central Wisconsin Conference South Division game.
