NEILLSVILLE ROMPS OVER GILMAN AT HOME
SPORTSDESK - The Neillsville Warriors picked up their second win of the season in as many games with a 94-52 win over the Gilman Pirates at home on Friday night. The Warriors scoring outburst featured big nights from Alex King, 22 points, and Braden Trunkel, 20 points. Also in double digits for Neillsville were Santana Subke with 14 and freshman sensation Andrew Brown with 10.
Gilman got 23 points from Andrew Hecker and all other scorers were in single digits. The Neillsville defense held Gilman to just 39% shooting from the field.
The Warrior offense launched 73 shots, making 35, including 15 three-pointers. Trunkel hit 6 of 12 from distance and King canned 4 of 10. King also recorded the teams lone double-double bringing down 10 rebounds.
Neillsville moves to 2-0 in the Cloverbelt East with the win, tied with Greenwood (2-0) for first place. Gilman is now 0-2 overall and in the Cloverbelt.
