NEILLSVILLE GIRLS BASKETBALL KNOCKS OFF FALL CREEK IN DIVISION 2 SECTIONAL SEMIFINAL

OSSEO – The Neillsville girls basketball team built a double-digit lead by halftime and held off a late run to defeat Fall Creek 34-28 in a WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal Thursday night at Osseo-Fairchild High School.
The Warriors raced out to a 17-4 lead by halftime and was able to finish off the victory despite a barrage from Fall Creek, that included three 3-pointers, by making 11 of 18 free throws.
Neillsville was held to three made baskets from the field in the second half, but Paige Voight made 6 of 8 free throws to help finish off the victory and send the Warriors into the sectional final. Voight finished with a game-high 13 points.
Neillsville (25-2), winners of 13 games in a row, will take on Phillips (25-2) in a Division 4 sectional final at 1 p.m. Saturday at Osseo-Fairchild High School. The game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
Neillsville is looking to clinch its sixth state tournament berth and first since making it three years in a row from 2012-14. Phillips has never qualified for a state girls basketball tournament.
