WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Grant Warren scored 16 of his career-high 23 points in the first half as Marathon built a big lead and rolled to an 81-43 win over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Tuesday at Assumption High School.

Marathon raced out to a 30-24 lead by halftime and didn’t let up, outscoring the Royals by 23 points in the second half.

Marathon is now 10-1 overall and 7-1 in the Marawood South, maintaining a tie with Stratford atop of the conference standings. Stratford downed Wausau Newman Catholic, which came into Tuesday in a three-way tie for first place.

Jaden Koeller added 13 points and Ben Robbins chipped in 12 for the Raiders.

Bryson Galbreath had 11 points and Nick Leberg scored 10 for Assumption (4-6, 3-4 Marawood South).

Both teams host Marawood South games on Friday, with Marathon taking on Auburndale and Assumption hosting Stratford. The Assumption game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
