RICHLAND CENTER – The Wisconsin Rapids Assumption girls soccer remains perfect, improving to 12-0 this season, after a pair of wins at the Richland Center Quadrangular on Saturday.

Assumption defeated Driftless United (Viroqua co-op) 7-1 and Richland Center 4-0.

Clara Kubis and Addi Vollert each scored twice, and Kendall Duellman, Kayla Kerkman and Izzy Jungwirht added goals for Assumption in the win over Driftless United. Duellman had a pair of assists and Sarah Shaw had another.

Shaw provided Assumption with all of its offense against Richland Center, scoring all four goals for the Royals. Vollert and Kerkman had assists on two of the goals, and Mally Steinle made seven saves in goal for the Royals.

“We put Sarah Shaw up against their sweeper and she became our target player,” Assumption coach Jim Wendels said. “Hats off to Sarah for taking the task to the next level and scoring four goals.

“It was an impressive team performance today and our backup goalie (Steinle) did a fantastic job in goal. We appreciate her stepping into that role for her team.”

Assumption will host Amherst at 7 p.m. Monday at Washington Field. The game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
