WAUSAU WEST DEFEATS STEVENS POINT IN BATTLE OF WVC GIRLS TENNIS UNBEATENS

STEVENS POINT – Wausau West clinched at least a share of the Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis regular season championship with a 7-0 sweep of Stevens Point in a battle of undefeated squads on Tuesday at Stevens Point Area Senior High.


Wausau West improves to 5-0 while Stevens Point falls to 4-1 with one WVC dual remaining. SPASH will be at Marshfield and West will host Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday. The Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament will be Sept. 30 at Wausau East.


Stevens Point’s No. 1 doubles team of Tatum Thielman and Abby Erwin came the closest to pulling off a win for the Panthers, falling in three sets to Katie Meyer and Anika Eder 6-2, 1-6, 7-5. West won the other six matches in straight sets.
