UNDEFEATED FREEDOM HOLDS OFF WISCONSIN RAPIDS GIRLS BASKETBALL AT SENTRY CLASSIC

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Freedom pulled out to a double-digit lead in the first half and held off a late run to defeat Wisconsin Rapids 60-53 in a girls basketball game at the Sentry Classic on Wednesday afternoon at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.


Freedom led 31-19 at halftime before the Raiders closed the gap, outscoring the Irish by five in the second half before coming up short.


Freedom, ranked No. 2 in this week’s Division 3 wissports.net state coaches poll, improves to 11-0.


Megan Clary had 24 points, and Chelsea King added 12 points and nine rebounds for Wisconsin Rapids, which falls to 4-4 this season.


Wisconsin Rapids returns to action Jan. 4 with a nonconference home game against Reedsburg.
