PLOVER – The Stevens Point softball team opened postseason play by putting up multiple runs in all four of its at-bats and rolling to a 15-0 win over Eau Claire Memorial in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Tuesday at Woyak Field.
Stevens Point (22-5), the No. 3 seed in the Division 1 Sectional 1 bracket, will take on Wisconsin Valley Conference rival Wisconsin Rapids (18-5), the No. 6 seed, in a regional final Thursday at 5 p.m. at Woyak Field. Stevens Point won both conference matchups with the Raiders this season, winning 4-2 on April 21 and 4-3 on May 12.
SPASH scored three times in the first and third innings, four times in the second and added five more in the fourth to finish off the win via the 10-run rule.
Emma Raikowski had a home run and three RBI, and Katelyn Klismith, Maddy Miklesh and Zoe Fink each had three hits in the victory for the Panthers. Fink drove in three runs, and Miklesh had a double, a triple and two RBI.
Maren Sauvageau and Delilah Abundiz combined on the two-hit shutout for Stevens Point.
