SPASH GIRLS BASKETBALL THROTTLES MERRILL

STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point girls basketball team dominated from the opening tip to the final horn, routing Merrill 84-17 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Friday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High.


SPASH raced out to a 46-9 lead by halftime and held Merrill to just eight in the second half to roll to the victory. The Panthers are now 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Merrill falls to 1-8 and 0-3 in conference play.


Emma Jossie had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Zoe Fink added 13 points for Stevens Point, which saw 10 different players score in the victory.


"It was nice to have a chance to play everyone and to get 10 players to score tonight,” SPASH coach Kraig Terpstra said. “I thought we moved the ball well and played very good defense.”


SPASH plays at D.C. Everest on Tuesday.
