SPASH BASEBALL SWEEPS WAUSAU WEST

STEVENS POINT, WI - The SPASH Panthers swept the Wausau West Warriors on Thursday night in Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball action at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point.


Game one saw only one runner cross the plate in 1-0 final. In the bottom of the fifth inning with bases loaded, West pitcher Isaiah Piscetero hit SPASH's Jake Sankey to send in what turned out to be the winning run of the game. SPASH's Logan Schulfer picked up the complete game win while striking out 14 West batters.


SPASH jumped on West in game two, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. That was followed by another four-run effort in the fourth as the Panthers went on to win by a score of 9-4. The Panthers saw Tommy Drohner cross the plate three times and Kenny Schultz with two runs batted in during the victory. SPASH used four pitchers in the game; Isaiah Christianson, Byrce Pelky, Devin Mrozek, and Riley Warzynski, as the Warriors scattered six hits and were struck out six times.





“Logan was dominant in game one. Just what we expect from someone of his talent level.", said coach Kraig Terpstra.

“It was nice to see our bats come alive in game 2”. “We are starting to show that we have a deep lineup offensively. We have the potential to be deep on the mound when we get some people healthy.”


SPASH (4-0) heads to Marshfield (1-1) on Thursday, May 13th to take on the Marshfield Tigers in a WVC double header with first pitch scheduled for 4pm. Watch both games live at zaleskisports.com.
