PRESCOTT TOPS GREENWOOD/LOYAL IN WIAA DIVISION 3 SOFTBALL REGIONAL FINAL

PRESCOTT – Prescott scored twice in each of the first two innings and pitcher Taylor Graf limited Greenwood/Loyal to just three hits as the Cardinals won 5-1 in a WIAA Division 3 softball regional final on Wednesday.
No. 1 seed Prescott (21-3) will host No. 7 seed Arcadia (9-9) in a D-3 sectional semifinal Monday. Arcadia pulled off its second-straight upset in the tournament, defeating No. 3 seed Neillsville 9-6 on Wednesday. Northwestern (18-5) will play at Bloomer (26-2) in the other semifinal, with the winners meeting Wednesday, June 23, at Arcadia for the sectional championship and a state tournament berth.
Anna Lindner had a double and scored Greenwood/Loyal’s only run, in the top of the second inning. McKenna Schley added a double and Kayla Bremmer singled for the Greenhounds’ other two hits.
Greenwood/Loyal finishes its season with a 15-8 record.
