PEWAUKEE SURGES PAST LA CROSSE CENTRAL IN SECOND HALF TO CLAIM SECOND STRAIGHT STATE TITLE
A feat that is rarely achieved a back-to-back state champion but that is what the Pewaukee Pirates accomplished tonight as they defeated La Crosse Central in the division 2 championship game, 67-48.
Pewaukee led the game 30-25 at halftime and La Crosse Central cut it down to three after a couple of free throws but it was all Pirates after that moment. A quick 8-0 spurt which put them up 38-27 and even led by as many as 20 with 4:02 remaining in the game.
The Pirates finished an astonishing 15-28 from beyond the 3-point line and shot 24-40 from the field overall in the game. Pewaukee was led by Nick Janowski and Ashton Janowski both of whom finished with 19 points. Milan Momcilovic poured in 17 points and seven rebounds.
Devon Fielding led the way for La Crosse Central finishing with 17 points and three rebounds while Nic Williams contributed 13 points for the Riverhawks.
This is Pewaukee’s second straight state championship and their second in school history.
