NORTHLAND PINES STORMS BACK LATE TO TOP MOSINEE BOYS SOCCER

EAGLE RIVER – Northland Pines scored three times in the final 10 minutes to edge Mosinee 4-3 in the Great Northern Conference boys soccer opener for both teams on Tuesday at Northland Pines High School.
Toren Holtz opened the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute on an assist from Thomas Miller and had a penalty kick as Mosinee built a 2-0 lead.
The Indians led 2-1 at halftime and Holtz scored again on an assist from Garrett Donohue to push the lead to 3-1.
Northland Pines (2-1, 1-0 GNC) mounted a late comeback, scoring on a direct kick with 10 minutes left, a penalty kick with five minutes remaining, and the game-winner on a breakaway with three minutes to go.
Mosinee (3-2, 0-1 GNC) plays Antigo on Thursday in its next Great Northern Conference game at Marathon County Peoples Sports Complex in Wausau at 7 p.m.
