MOSINEE SOFTBALL STORMS BACK TO BEAT NORTHLAND PINES

MOSINEE – The Mosinee softball team spotted Northland Pines four runs in the top of the first inning before roaring back and knocking off the Eagles 10-5 in a Great Northern Conference game Thursday at Mosinee High School.
Halie Kerner scored on a wild pitch before Kelty Neff smacked a three-run homer to give Northland Pines (2-6, 0-3 Great Northern Conference) a quick 4-0 lead.
Mosinee rallied in the bottom of the first, plating five runs to pull ahead for good.
Adeline Strejc hit a three-run homer, and Tristan Wicklund and Maggie Woller had RBI groundouts to put Mosinee on top 5-4.
The Indians added a run in the second inning on a wild pitch, and three in the third with the help of a Northland Pines error, an RBI single from Amber Gonzalez, and a bases loaded walk.
Strejc picked up the win, striking out seven in a complete-game effort for Mosinee (6-1, 5-1 Great Northern Conference).
Mosinee plays a nonconference game at Edgar on Friday.
