MEDFORD EDGES COLBY GIRLS BASKETBALL

MEDFORD – Marissa Fronk scored 11 of her game-high 17 points in the second half as Medford topped Colby 44-40 in the girls basketball season opener for both teams on Tuesday night at Medford High School.


Colby led 22-17 at halftime before the Raiders powered ahead in the second half. Rynn Ruesch and Sierra Hanson each scored six points in second half, and Fronk was 5-for-6 from the free throw line in the final 18 minutes as well as Medford pulled in front.


Colby was held to seven made baskets in the second half, three from Emma Peavey who hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored all eight of her points in the second half.


Lexi Underwood had 10 points, Hailey Voelker added 10 and Lexi Krebsbach also had eight points for Colby.


Colby opens its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule Friday at home against Greenwood.
