MARSHFIELD BOYS HOCKEY DOMINATES MONONA GROVE IN THIRD-PLACE GAME AT CULVER'S CUP

MADISON – Payton Smith had a hat trick and goalie Cole Halvorson made 25 saves as the Marshfield boys hockey crushed Monona Grove 6-1 in the third-place game at the Culver’s Cup on Thursday at Hartmeyer Ice Arena.


Graydon Anderson and Tyler Reissmann scored goals in the first period to give Marshfield a quick 2-1 lead in the opening five minutes of play.


Smith scored twice and Triston Reissmann added a goal in the second period, and Smith scored again for the Tigers, who are now 8-4-1 this season. Anderson finished with four assists in the victory.


Marshfield jumps back into Wisconsin Valley Conference action Tuesday at Wausau West.
