SHULLSBURG – The Edgar football team wrapped up its regular season with a 42-0 shutout of Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg on Friday night at Shullsburg High School.


Edgar pulled away in the second quarter with three Everet Brehm touchdowns in three different ways. Brehm caught a 46-yard touchdown pass from Mattison Butt, ran one in from the 10, and returned a punt 60 yards for another score, all in less than a seven-minute span.


Butt also threw a touchdown pass to Ashton Schuett, and Ayden Weisenberger ran for two scores in the second half to provide the final margin.


Overall statistics were not reported.


Edgar (6-3) is the No. 4 seed in its WIAA Division 7 playoff bracket and will host No. 5 Iola-Scandinavia (6-3) in a Level 1 matchup on Friday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. Edgar defeated the Thunderbirds in a nonconference game on Sept. 3, 36-0.
