ABBOTSFORD – Edgar scored two touchdowns late in the second quarter to pull ahead and the Wildcats held on from there to defeat Abbotsford 30-16 in a Marawood Conference football game Friday night at Abbotsford High School.

Edgar led 14-8 after the first quarter after Ayden Weisenberger had a 5-yard touchdown run and Ashton Schuett caught a 25-yard TD pass from Mattison Butt, surrounding a 36-yard touchdown run by Abby’s Evan Schunk

Ty Falteisek ran in from the 1 and added a two-point conversion to give the Falcons a 16-14 lead early in the second quarter before Edgar responded.

Everet Brehm had a 52-yard touchdown and Karter Butt ran in from the 11, and the Wildcats converted two-point conversions after each score to take a 30-16 lead.

Neither team scored the rest of the way as the Wildcats improved to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the Marawood. Abbotsford is now 4-3 and 1-3 in conference play, minus the three forfeit wins that are awarded due to teams dropping out of the conference during the summer.

Abbotsford will host Hurley for a nonconference game on Oct. 15. Edgar does not have a game scheduled.
