DE PERE HOLDS OFF STEVENS POINT LEGION BASEBALL AT RAPIDS TOURNAMENT

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – De Pere scored four times in the top of the first inning and held off a late rally to defeat Stevens Point 7-5 in an American Legion baseball game at the Wisconsin Rapids Rangers Tournament on Friday.
De Pere jumped out to the quick lead and were ahead 7-1 before the Sixers put up a fight in the bottom of the seventh.
Benett Klish led off with a double, Asher Jordan reached on an error and Jerrin Suehs knocked them both in with a triple. Suehs scored another error and Tyler Giese singled home a run to make it 7-5. The rally ended with a groundout.
Klish, Jordan, Giese and Mason Firkus each had two hits for Stevens Point, which falls to 3-3 this season.
Stevens Point will play Onalaska at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, and face Antigo at 11 a.m. and Altoona at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Rangers Tournament. All three games will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
