WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Ainara Sainz de Rozas scored 15 points to lead the Wisconsin Rapids Assumption girls basketball team to a 64-38 win over Athens in a Marawood Conference crossover game Thursday at Assumption High School.


Kayla Kerkman added 10 points for the Royals, who improve to 17-3 overall and 11-2 in the Marawood South to remain in a tie for first place with Auburndale atop of the conference standings. The two teams meet Tuesday at Assumption in a game that will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.


Jazelle Hartwig and McKennzie Schug each had 10 points for Athens, which had its six-game winning streak snapped and drop to 16-3 overall and 9-3 in the Marawood North.


Athens will have a week off before hosting Auburndale for a Marawood crossover game Feb. 11.
