ASSUMPTION GIRLS BASKETBALL DOMINATES SECOND HALF, DEFEATS LOYAL IN NONCONFERENCE MATCHUP

LOYAL – Assumption held Loyal to three made baskets in the second half and pulled away for a 47-25 win in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night at Loyal High School.


Assumption (7-2) led 23-18 at halftime before turning the screws on the defensive end in the second half, outscoring the Greyhounds 24-7.


Ainara Sainz de Rozas scored 12 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for the Royals, who had 10 different players score in the win. Maleia Kolo added nine points and Cristin Casey had seven as well in the victory.


Abrial Kubista had 10 points for Loyal (1-6).


Loyal hosts Granton on Tuesday in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup.


Assumption will enjoy an extended break and return to action Tuesday, Jan. 4, at home against Marathon for a Marawood Conference South Division game.
