AMHERST FOOTBALL EARNS STORM-SHORTENED WIN OVER MEDFORD

MEDFORD – The Amherst football team scored four first-half touchdowns and went on to a storm-shortened 29-14 nonconference win over Medford on Friday at Medford High School.


The game was called with 11 minutes left in the third quarter due to heavy rain and lightning.


Quarterback Landon Moe scored on a 1-yard run four minutes into the game for Amherst before Medford responded with a 31-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion from Aiden Gardner, giving the Raiders an 8-7 lead.


The Falcons (2-0) scored three unanswered touchdowns to regain control, and eventually take the victory.


Jake Hoffman had a 14-yard TD run, Moe scored from three yards out, and then connected with Ian Hall on a 78-yard touchdown pass with just one minute to go before halftime, putting the Falcons on top 29-8 at the break.

Medford scored on a long touchdown pass in the opening minute of the second half before the game was stopped, and eventually canceled.


Amherst plays at Shiocton in its Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division opener Friday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m.
