ABBOTSFORD/COLBY BASEBALL WHIPS PHILLIPS, STAYS IN MARAWOOD NORTH TITLE CHASE

PHILLIPS – Abbotsford/Colby completed a two-game sweep of Phillips, winning 8-1 on Thursday in a Marawood Conference North Division baseball game.
Marco Olvera struck out 10 and allowed just one hit in 6 1/3 innings to snag the win for the Falcons, to improve to 14-5 overall and 7-2 in the Marawood North.
Abbotsford/Colby, with a win at home against Prentice (1-16) on Tuesday, would tie for the Marawood North championship with Athens. Athens has already completed its conference slate with an 8-2 record.
Cade Faber had a double, a triple and two RBIs, Mason Carpenter had three hits and scored twice, and Ross Elmhorst added two RBIs for Abbotsford/Colby.
The Falcons play a nonconference home game against Edagr on Friday, host Tomahawk for a doubleheader on Saturday, and play Medford at home on Monday before wrapping up their regular season.
