NEILLSVILLE'S JOHN PLACES SIXTH AT DIVISION 2 BOYS GOLF SECTIONAL, EARNS STATE BERTH

GREEN LAKE – Neillsville senior Nolan John is moving on to the state tournament after finishing sixth at the WIAA Division 3 boys golf sectional on Tuesday on the Links Course at Lawsonia Golf Club.
John shot an 84, eight shots behind meet medalist Noah Kirsch of Lancaster, to earn one of the three individual qualifying berths for the 2022 WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament, which will be held June 6-7 at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.
Neillsville missed out on a team slot at the state tournament as it finished third with a 371. Mineral Point had a 335 and Lancaster shot a 357 to earn the two team berths at state.
Princeton/Green Lake’s Jonah Curtis tied for second with a 77 and Parkview’s Trey Oswald took fourth with a 79 to earn the other two individual qualifying spots at state.
Freshman Tucker Johnson tied for seventh with an 86, Jonah Czarnecki had a 99, Eastan Swita shot a 102, and Andrew Brown had a 104 to round out Neillsville’s scoring.
