WAUSAU WEST HOLDS OFF SPASH RALLY TO WIN WVC GIRLS BASKETBALL MATCHUP

STEVENS POINT – Wausau West held off a comeback effort from Stevens Point to hold on for a 51-49 victory in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls basketball game Tuesday at Stevens Point Area Senior High.


West led 31-16 at halftime before SPASH rallied to close to within two at the end.


West remains undefeated at 4-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference and improves to 9-2 overall. Stevens Point is now 4-9 and 2-2 in the Valley.


Emma Jossie had 13 points and six rebounds, and Morgan Netzinger added 10 points for the Panthers.


“We had a great second half,” SPASH coach Kraig Terpstra said. “I am proud of the players for fighting back and giving themselves a chance to win.”


Stevens Point plays at Marshfield as part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Friday. The girls game begins at 6:30 p.m., with the boys to follow. Both games will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
