GREENWOOD CLAIMS PLAYOFF WIN AT PLUM CITY/ELMWOOD
SPORTSDESK - The Greenwood Indians came into their Tuesday playoff game at Elmwood as the 6th place team from the Cloverbelt Conference and losers of their last four. With two of those four losses to first place and #1 seed Columbus Catholic and #4 seed Gilman, perhaps that was exactly the preparation Greenwood needed heading into the tournament. Speaking with head coach Jennifer Mayenschein prior to Tuesday's match about the four hour round trip tournament slot, "a tournament win sure would make the trip back to Greenwood more enjoyable".
Greenwood won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-22 then dropped the third 21-25. Needing a third win to take the match and advance in the tournament, Greenwood bounced back in the fourth set winning it 26-24. Greenwood will now play on Thursday in a regional semi-final at #2 seed McDonnell Central Catholic (Chippewa Falls) with game time scheduled for 7pm.
