ATHENS VOLLEBYALL EARNS TIGHT WIN OVER ABBOTSFORD

ATHENS – The Athens volleyball team swept Abbotsford to earn its second win of the Marawood Conference North Division schedule on Tuesday at Athens High School.


The Bluejays won 25-23, 25-22, 25-22, in a tight match to improve to 2-1 in the Marawood North. For Abbotsford, it was their conference opener.


Addison Lavicka had 16 kills, 12 assists and eight digs, and Jazelle Hartwig had 10 kills, 16 assists and 11 digs to lead Athens in terrific all-around performances.


Sophia Coker added six kills, Jenna Handschke had four service aces, and Savannah Epping had eight digs in the win for the Bluejays.


Athens will compete at the Eau Claire Regis Invitational and Abbotsford will host an eight-team tournament on Saturday.
