ASSUMPTION GIRLS BASKETBALL POUNDS MARION IN WIAA DIVISION 5 REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The No. 1 seed Wisconsin Rapids Assumption girls basketball team had no trouble in its postseason opener as it pummeled Marion 69-6 in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal Monday at Assumption High School.
The game was moved from Tuesday to Monday due to an impending winter storm.
Assumption held Marion without a basket from the field in the first half and led 51-2 at halftime.
Kendall Duellman had 12 points, Ainara Sainz de Rozas added 11, and Anna Schooley scored 10 for the Royals, who improve to 22-3.
Assumption will host a regional semifinal Friday against the winner of Wednesday’s game between No. 9 Wausau Newman Catholic and No. 8 Marshfield Columbus Catholic. Friday’s game, as well as the Columbus-Newman game, will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
