WISCONSIN RAPIDS SOFTBALL SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER OVER MENOMONIE

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids was hot offensively and blew past Menomonie, sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Lincoln High School, winning 9-3 and 16-6.
In Game 1, Madelyn Shea had a two-run inside-the-park home run in the top of the first to give Menomonie (0-3) a quick 2-0 lead before the Raiders responded with a big inning of their own.
Megan Clary led off with a double and scored on an error, Hayley Wagner had an RBI triple and scored on an error, another run scored on a wild pitch, and Jazzlyn Redcloud had an RBI single to give Wisconsin Rapids a 5-2 lead.
The Raiders added three more runs in the third and another in the fourth to provide some cushion.
Rhiannon Carroll earned the win, allowing two runs in the four innings with four strikeouts. Clary finished up, striking out five in three innings to grab the save for Wisconsin Rapids (3-0).
In Game 2, Clary and Meghan Jochimsen each had three hits and four RBIs, and Wagner also drove in four runs for the Raiders.
Emily Friday was 4-for-4 with an RBI, and Redcloud added two hits and scored four times in the win.
Wisconsin Rapids hosts Wausau East on Tuesday in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener.
