SPASH BASEBALL BLANKS SUPERIOR TO WIN DIVISION 1 REGIONAL FINAL

STEVENS POINT – Noah Marschke and Kaden Thauer combined on a one-hit shutout to lead the Stevens Point baseball team to a 2-0 win over Superior in a WIAA Division 1 baseball regional final Thursday at Bukolt Park.


Stevens Point (20-6) moves on to sectionals next Tuesday at Carson Park in Eau Claire. The Panthers will play in the second of two semifinals at 1 p.m. against the winner of Thursday night’s game between Eau Claire Memorial and River Falls. The sectional championship game will be at 4 p.m.


Marschke went six innings and allowed just one hit, a double by Kalin with one out in the sixth innings. He finished with eight strikeouts and two walks. Kaden Thauer send the Spartans (14-5) down in order in the seventh to earn the save and send the Panthers to sectionals.


Bennett Klish had an RBI single in the third inning and Riley Warzynski knocked in Bryce Ehr, who had doubled, in the fourth to provide Stevens Point with its offensive production.


Ehr and Warznyski each had two hits for the Panthers.
