MOSINEE SOFTBALL SHUTS OUT LAKELAND

RHINELANDER – Mosinee scored six times in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to a 10-0 win over Lakeland in its Great Northern Conference softball opener Thursday at Rhinelander High School.
The game was moved to Rhinelander due to wet field conditions at Mosinee.
Adeline Strejc tossed a five-inning, two-hit shutout for the Indians (2-0), with 10 strikeouts and two walks allowed.
Mosinee had only three hits, two from Maria Valls Raya, but used eight walks to win going away.
Valls Raya, who had a single and a triple, drove in four runs. Hailey Shnowske added two RBIs and Amber Gonzalez had the Indians’ other hit and scored twice.
Mosinee is scheduled to host Antigo on Monday.
