LATE FUMBLE RETURN FOR SCORE LIFTS SHIOCTON PAST SPENCER/COLUMBUS FOOTBALL

Zaleski Sports

SHIOCTON – Shiocton returned a fumble for a touchdown with just 1:33 remaining to shock the Spencer/Columbus Catholic football and pull out a 26-22 win in a Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division game Friday night at Shiocton High School.

The Rockets led 22-14 heading into the fourth quarter on the strength of three Eden Jacobson touchdowns, including a 90-yarder in the second quarter.

Cade Stingle caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Jack Scott midway through the fourth quarter for Shiocton, but Spencer/Columbus stopped the two-point conversion attempt and remained ahead at 22-20.

However, while trying to run out the clock, the Rockets fumbled, and Shiocton recovered it and returned it for the game-winning score.

Both teams are now 2-2 overall and in the CWC Large.

Jacobson finished with 241 rushing yards on 31 carries for the Rockets.

Spencer/Columbus will host Wittenberg-Birnamwood next Friday, Oct. 23.
