EIGHT AREA PLAYERS PART OF UW-LA CROSSE FOOTBALL TEAM THAT QUALIFIED FOR NCAA PLAYOFFS

LA CROSSE – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse football team, which boasts nine area players on its roster, is heading to the NCAA Division III playoffs after finishing in second place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this fall.


La Crosse (8-2) will play at Albion College (9-1) in a first-round game at 11 a.m. Saturday in Albion, Mich.


The 32-team field will be whittled down each week until two remain and play in the NCAA Division III National Championship Game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, on Dec. 17.



Marshfield High School graduate Connor Berry is an offensive lineman on the UW-La Crosse football team.

Marshfield High School graduates Connor Berry, a senior offensive lineman, sophomore wide receiver Caden Pearce, sophomore punter Ryan Krueger, sophomore running back Brant Bohman and freshman wide receiver Wyatt LeMoine are among the local players on the Eagles’ roster this season.


Sophomore defensive lineman Jack Kelly and freshman defensive lineman Zach Zsido of Stevens Point, sophomore offensive lineman Wyatt Fowler of Auburndale, and freshman Austen Humke offensive lineman of Greenwood are also on La Crosse’s roster.


Berry, who started 19 games in 2018-19, has played in five games this season, while Bohman has seen action in all 10 of the Eagles’ contests, rushing for 278 yards and a touchdown, including a career-high 94 in a win over UW-Stevens Point last month.


Kelly is a starting defensive lineman, and has 28 tackles and four quarterback sacks for the Eagles.
