ASSUMPTION GIRLS SOCCER SHUTS OUT NORTHLAND PINES TO REACH WIAA STATE TOURNAMENT

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Assumption girls soccer team is heading back to state after a 3-0 win over Northland Pines on Saturday at Washington Field.
The Royals remain undefeated at 22-0 and will play in a Division 4 semifinal at the 2022 WIAA State Girls Soccer Tournament at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee on Friday at 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Seedings and pairings for the state tournament will be announced Sunday.
Assumption will be making its second-straight state tournament appearance and fourth overall. The Royals lost 4-0 to Cedar Grove-Belgium in the D-4 semifinals last season and won its only state title in 2014 with a 2-1 win over New Holstein. Assumption lost in the D-3 championship game in its first appearance in 2011.
The girls soccer team’s state berth marks the Assumption High School girls athletic program’s fourth of the school year after the girls cross country team qualified for state as a team, the girls basketball team finished runner-up in Division 5 at state and the softball team won the Division 5 state championship on Saturday.
