WISCONSIN RAPIDS LEGION SCORES THREE IN SEVENTH TO DOWN MARSHFIELD

MARSHFIELD – Wisconsin Rapids Post 9 scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to pull past Marshfield Post 54 8-5 in American Legion baseball action Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.


Wisconsin Rapids jumped out to a 5-0 lead as Carson Gunderson had an RBI single and Cole Ladick knocked in two with a single in the third inning, and Caden Senbusch knocked in two with a hit in the fourth.


Marshfield rallied with a four-run fourth inning. Carsten Jirschele and Ben Dietsche had RBI singles, and Cody Donahue and Nick Urban had run-scoring sacrifice flies.


The Blue Devils, playing their home opener, tied the game in the fifth. Colten Schilling walked, stole second and scored on another single by Dietsche.


The score held until the top of the seventh when Rapids (3-0) was able to get to Marshfield reliever Jackson Ormond thanks to four errors behind him. Ashton Potter had a sacrifice fly, Ryan Sering knocked in a run with a single, and Austin Junemann scored on an error to put the Rangers up 8-5 and they held on for the win.


Both teams jump back into action Wednesday. Marshfield will be at D.C. Everest and Wisconsin Rapids will host Wausau. Both games will be broadcast live on zaleskisports.com. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
