DELTA 44, EASTBROOK 7
Delta had no trouble dispatching Class 2A No. 4 Eastbrook behind a big output by wide receiver Cameron Levers. He returned the opening kickoff nearly 100 yards for a touchdown, and also scored on pass plays of 7 and 30 yards.
In addition to the two passing scores, Eagles quarterback Brady Hunt ran for touchdowns of 4 and 2 yards. Wesley Stitt chipped in with a 50-yard touchdown sprint.
Delta improved to 2-0 and will play at Shelbyville next Friday
EASTERN HANCOCK 48, WES-DEL 22
Wes-Del racked up 349 yards of offense but couldn’t match the scoring firepower of Eastern Hancock.
Warriors quarterback Eric Harlan completed 20-of-29 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 75 yards, including a 35-yard score. Will Kelly gained 80 yards on 17 rushing attempts.
YORKTOWN 33, MUNCIE CENTRAL 14
Yorktown improved to 2-0 for the sixth time in the past seven seasons by outscoring Muncie Central 27-8 in the second half. The Tigers had three takeaways, including a 19-yard touchdown return on a fumble by JJ Evans and a 45-yard interception return by Austin Hill.
Alex Gibson led the Tigers’ defensive charge with 12 tackles.
Yorktown will play at Class 5A No. 1 New Palestine in its Hoosier Heritage Conference opener next Friday. Central will be at Anderson for its North Central Conference opener.
