WABENO/LAONA SURGES PAST PACELLI BOYS BASKETBALL

STEVENS POINT – Wabeno/Laona rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat Stevens Point Pacelli 72-63 in a nonconference boys basketball game Friday at Pacelli High School.


Pacelli led 34-25 at halftime and led by 12 with 10:39 left in the game but couldn’t overcome the onslaught by the Rebels, who scored 47 points in the second half to win going away.


Jaydon Awe had 15 points and 24 rebounds in a monster double-double effort for the Cardinals, who fall to 4-5 this season.


Andrew Van Order and Nick Fox each added 13 points in the loss for Pacelli.


Pacelli plays at Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs on Friday and hosts Marshfield Columbus Catholic for a nonconference game at 7:15 p.m. Monday. Monday’s game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
