DELAWARE COUNTY PREP ROUNDUP, SEPTEMBER 12


BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Yorktown won a tight competition to claim the Delaware County championship on Sept. 10. The Tigers scored 34 points and finished one point better than Wapahani. Delta was third with 73, Cowan fourth with 90 and Daleville fifth with 120.

The Tigers’ Matthew Mitsch was the individual champion in 16:44.9 and teammate Ryan Bade was second.


GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Yorktown won the Delaware County championship on Sept. 10, beating Delta 37-44. Cowan was third with 82, Wapahani fourth with 116, Wes-Del fifth with 120 and Daleville sixth with 129.

Amberleigh Sorensen led the Tigers with a second-place finish and Elizabeth Reece was third. Makayla Robles of Delta was the individual champion in 20:55.9.


VOLLEYBALL

Class 2A No. 2 Wapahani beat No. 3 Hagerstown 27-25, 25-13, 25-21 on Sept. 10 in a battle of top-5 teams. Mallory Summers had 15 kills for the Raiders.


Class 4A No. 1 Yorktown remained unbeaten by stopping Hamilton Southeastern 25-22, 28-26, 25-22 in a tight match. Courtney Watkins had 21 kills to lead the Tigers.
