PHILLIPS STARTS STRONG, TAKES OUT ATHENS IN BATTLE OF GIRLS BASKETBALL UNBEATENS

PHILLIPS – Jada Eggebrecht scored 29 points and Elsa Schulter added 16 as the Phillips girls basketball team defeated Athens 92-70 in a battle between Marawood Conference North Division leaders Tuesday at Phillips High School.


Phillips doubled up Athens in the first half, pulling out to a 54-27 lead, and held on to improve to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Marawood North.


McKennzie Schug and Addison Lavicka each scored 14 points for Athens, which falls to 7-1 and 4-1 in the Marawood North.


Athens plays a nonconference game at Thorp on Dec. 28.
