MOSINEE – Mosinee rallied twice from one-run deficits and Maggie Woller delivered a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Indians defeated Merrill 3-2 in a WIAA Division 2 softball regional semifinal Tuesday at Mosinee High School.
No. 4 seed Mosinee (17-5) will travel to No. 1 seed New London (20-4) for a D-2 regional final Thursday.
Merrill led 1-0 after scoring in the second inning before Mosinee tied it when Mikah Keller scored on an error in the third.
The Bluejays (6-12) pulled ahead again in the sixth only to see Mosinee knot the scored again on an RBI groundout by Adeline Strejc.
After Strejc sent down Merrill in the top of the seventh, Alanna Bembenek singled with one out in the bottom of the frame, was eliminated on a fielder’s choice, and Woller smacked a double to plate Daisy Spink with the game-winning run.
Strejc went the distance in the circle for the Indians, striking out two without a walk to grab the win.
