GREENWOOD FOOTBALL HOLDS OFF PHILLIPS

GREENWOOD – The Greenwood football team evened its season record with a 24-20 win over Phillips in a nonconference 8-man game Friday night at Greenwood High School.


Xander Hinker had a pair of rushing touchdowns in the first quarter and Kody Johnson added another early in the second to give Greenwood (1-1) an 18-6 lead.


Phillips scored just before halftime to cut the lead to one score, but the Indians responded with another Hinker touchdown run midway through the third to push their lead to 24-12.


Phillips scored late in the game to provide the final score.


Hinker fnished with 210 rushing yards on 30 attempts and the three scores.


Will Knaack led Phillips (2-1) with 130 rushing yards and two scores.


Greenwood plays at Tri-County in its Central Wisconsin Conference East Division opener on Friday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. The game will be of nine broadcast live on Friday night at zaleskisports.com.
