Zaleski Sports

MAUSTON - The Abbotsford/Colby baseball team dropped its first game of the season Friday, losing 6-2 to New Richmond at the Woodside Sports Complex.

Abby/Colby starting pitcher JV Castillo walked seven and gave up six runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings, suffering the loss.

Castillo did his level best to make up for the pitching woes from the plate as he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Carlos Lara had the only other hit for Abby/Colby.

Evan Reis struck out two and kept New Richmond off the board in the 1 1/3 innings.

The loss evens the Abbotsford/Colby record at 1-1. Next up are games scheduled Saturday at Woodside in Mauston against Amery at 3 p.m. and Reedsburg at 7:30 p.m. Those games are weather depending.
