WISCONSIN RAPIDS LEGION JUMPS ON STEVENS POINT EARLY, CRUISES TO HOME WIN

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Post 9 scored eight times in the first three innings and held on the rest of the way for an 8-5 win over Stevens Point in a Wisconsin Valley Legion League baseball game Wednesday night.
The Rangers (7-2, 3-1 WVLL) had five-straight singles and scored four times in the first inning to take a quick lead they would not relinquish.
Braden Lewis had an RBI single, Ashton Potter knocked in two with a single, and Lewis scored on a groundout by Marcos Simonsen to give Wisconsin Rapids the 4-0 lead.
The Rangers pushed the lead two 8-1 by the end of three innings on a two-run single by Simonsen in the second, and an RBI double by Ryan Sering and an RBI single by Austin Juneman in the third.
Lewis threw five strong innings, allowing one run. Ethan Freeman finished off the final two innings of the victory.
Blade Niewiadomski had two hits and two RBI for Stevens Point (4-7, 2-3 WVLL).
Wisconsin Rapids will be at D.C. Everest on Thursday, while Stevens Point will be off until Monday when it hosts Plover.
