WISCONSIN RAPIDS GIRLS TENNIS SLIPS PAST D.C. EVEREST FOR FIRST WVC VICTORY

SCHOFIELD – The Wisconsin Rapids girls tennis team earned its first Wisconsin Valley Conference victory of the season, edging D.C. Everest 4-3 in a dual meet Thursday at D.C. Everest High School.


Corinne Sazama at No. 1 singles, Jenna Wentland at No. 2 singles, the No. 1 doubles team of Teagan Bondioli and Abbey Gust, and the No. 2 doubles team of Sawyer Holberg and Aleeya Leach each won in straight sets for Wisconsin Rapids (1-3 WVC).


Wisconsin Rapids will host Assumption, Lakeland and River Falls for a quadrangular tournament on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Doubles: 1. Teagan Bondioli-Abbey Gust (WR) def. Maddie Sazama-Makenna Kaupmann, 6-2, 7-5; 3. Sawyer Holberg-Aleeya Leach (WR) def. Lora Harrington-Maddie Bubick, 6-1, 6-4; 3. Morgan Hahn-McKayla Pozorski (DC) def. Sierra Dillingham-Olivia Leach, 6-1, 6-0.
