WISCONSIN RAPIDS GIRLS BASKETBALL USES STRONG SECOND HALF TO BEAT STEVENS POINT

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids girls basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 72-67 win over rival Stevens Point on Monday at Lincoln High School.
The Raiders are now 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the WVC, while Stevens Point falls to 1-6 and 0-1 in conference play.
Stevens Point led 30-26 at halftime before Wisconsin Rapids rallied with a 46-point second half to pull away at the end.
Megan Clary had 27 points and Chelsea King scored 24 for the Raiders.
Emma Jossie led the Panthers with 28 points.
"I thought we played very well until the last 4 minutes," SPASH coach Kraig Terpstra said. "We broke down defensively a little bit. Also, Rapids just made more plays to close the game."
Stevens Point hosts Merrill on Friday, while Rapids will enjoy a week off before playing at Merrill on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
