STEVENS POINT SOFTBALL DOUBLES UP WISCONSIN RAPIDS

STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point softball team handed Wisconsin Rapids its first loss of the season, doubling up the Raiders 4-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Thursday at Woyak Field.
Zoe Fink had an RBI single in the first inning and Katelyn Klismith knocked in a run with a single in the second as Stevens Point built a 3-0 lead early.
The teams matched runs in the fourth. Sawyer Holberg led off the top half of the inning with a double for Wisconsin Rapids and later scored on a single by Megan Clary.
SPASH retaliated in the bottom of the inning as O’Neal scored on a sacrifice fly by Klismith.
Stevens Point was able to hold on from there as three pitchers combined on a six-hitter. Fink was credited with the win, striking out two in 3 2/3 innings.
Maddy Miklesh and Klismith each had two hits for the Panthers, who are now 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the WVC.
Rhiannon Carroll took the loss for Wisconsin Rapids (4-1, 1-1 WVC), striking out two and walking two. She also went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Stevens Point plays at D.C. Everest and Wisconsin Rapids will host Holmen on Friday.
