STEVENS POINT BASEBALL KNOCKS OFF CHIPPEWA FALLS TO WIN DIVISION 1 REGIONAL FINAL

STEVENS POINT – Riley Warzynski had three hits and Cade Konczal knocked in a pair of runs as the Stevens Point Area Senior High baseball team downed Chippewa Falls 7-4 to capture a WIAA Division 1 regional final on Thursday at Bukolt Park.
Stevens Point moves on to the Division 1 sectional at Jack Hackman Field in Marshfield on Monday.
River Falls (10-8) will take on Eau Claire Memorial (19-7) in the first game at 10 a.m., with D.C. Everest (16-8) playing Stevens Point (18-5) in the second game at 1 p.m. The winners meet at 4 p.m. for the sectional final and a berth in the WIAA state tournament.
Chippewa Falls scored a run in the top of the first inning and held that lead until the fourth, when SPASH scored twice.
The Panthers poured it on with a four-run fifth and were able to hang on from there.
Kenny Schultz allowed two runs, both unearned, in 5 1/3 innings to pick up the win. He finished with eight strikeouts and gave up just one run and four hits.
